PT-JOY-G4 - I lost control of my cameras

August 23, 2023

One common reason for control to suddenly stop working is if you accidentally switch the controller between the Analog (Serial RS 232/RS 485) or Network control modes.

You can see what mode the controller is currently in on the controller screen.
The option labeled "Active I/F" indicates the current mode.
Analog is the serial control mode.
And Network is the Network/IP control mode.

You can toggle between these two modes by pressing the button on top of the Joystick for about 3 seconds.

If you verify that you are in the correct mode there could be several reasons for the control failure.
Network Control -
Check that both the Controller and Cameras are still on the same subnet and verify that your cameras are still at the IP addresses you used when adding them to the controller.

Serial Control -
Double check that the cabling is secure and has not been damaged.
Verify that the cameras are using the correct Control Protocol, Address, and Baudrate.
