Hotkeys - How to view, update, and reset Hotkeys
April 02, 2024
Hotkeys offer a streamlined method for navigating and utilizing Hive’s features efficiently. This guide will lead you through setting up, modifying, and updating hotkeys within Hive, ensuring a smooth and enhanced user experience. Customizing your hotkeys allows you to optimize Hive to suit your workflow and preferences, significantly enhancing productivity and user experience.
Understanding Hotkeys Categories
Hotkeys in Hive are divided into several categories for easier navigation and customization:
- Essentials
- Camera Control
- Toolbar
- Sources
- Miscellaneous
Each hotkey is listed alongside the function it controls for straightforward identification.
Changing a Hotkey
-
Navigate to Settings: Click on the settings icon located in the top right corner of the Hive interface.
-
Open Hotkeys Section: Find and select the “Hotkeys” option within the settings menu to access the hotkeys configuration area.
-
Select the Hotkey: Locate the hotkey you wish to change and click on the key or the small “X” next to it.
-
Assign a New Key: Press a new key on your keyboard to assign it to the selected function. If the key is already in use, an error message will alert you of the conflict.
-
Resolve Conflicts: To prevent errors, ensure no two actions are assigned to the same hotkey. If a conflict is detected, clear the offending hotkey before assigning it anew.
-
Save Changes: After choosing a new key for your hotkey, click outside the input field and press “Save Changes” to implement your new hotkey setup.
Resetting to Default
- To revert your hotkeys to the default settings, click the “Reset to Default” button, then “Save” to apply these default configurations.
Tips
-
Conflict Avoidance: Organize your hotkeys to ensure that each action has a unique assignment. This precaution avoids operational errors and ensures a seamless workflow.
-
Personalized: Hotkeys are stored at a personal level, so any user in your Studio can use their own custom jeys. Hoykeys also carry over from Studio to Studio so you don't need to reset them each time you access a new Studio in Hive.
