Camera Control Issues After Firmware Update? Troubleshooting Guide
May 01, 2025
Disabling HTTP Authentication on PTZOptics Cameras
The latest firmware update for all PTZOptics cameras introduces HTTP Authentication , which may cause issues with control in certain apps, custom joystick buttons, and API interactions.
We are working on adding authentication support to all our control applications. However, until this is implemented, you may need to disable this setting to maintain control.
Disabling HTTP Authentication
G2 Models (SDI-G2, NDI-G2, Box Cams, USB-G2)
- Log into the camera's web interface by entering its IP address in a web browser.
- Navigate to the System tab on the left side.
- In the HTTP Authentication dropdown, change "On" to "Off" .
- Click "Submit" .
- A popup will appear, informing you that you are disabling the feature. Click "OK" .
- Click "Reboot" at the top of the page to restart the camera.
- Wait about 15 seconds , then close and reopen any control app you are using, and reconnect to the camera.
If you’ve recently updated the firmware, your browser may retain cached data and not display the new settings. We recommend logging into the web interface using a private or incognito browser window.
G3 Models (Move 4K, Link 4K, Move SE, Studio Pro, Studio 4K)
- Log into the camera's web interface by entering its IP address in a web browser or using the assigned local name (e.g.,
PTZoptics.local).- If you haven’t set a password since the update, follow the steps in [this article] .
- Go to the Camera Config tab on the left, then select System Settings .
- In the HTTP Authentication dropdown, change "On" to "Off" .
- Click "Apply" .
- A popup will appear, informing you that you are disabling the feature. Click "OK" .
- Click the "Reboot" button on the left side.
- The camera will reboot (this may take 2–3 minutes for 4K models).
- After rebooting, close and reopen any control app you are using, then reconnect to the camera.
If you’ve recently updated the firmware, your browser may retain cached data and not display the new settings. We recommend logging into the web interface using a private or incognito browser window.
