PTZOptics Camera Error Codes and Their Meanings

When using PTZOptics cameras, you may encounter some common errors. Below are a few of these errors along with their possible causes and solutions.

ARM ERROR

This could be a number of things but this error basically means the camera is not able to run through its boot up sequence at the startup, something is stopping it from panning, tilting, zooming, or focusing. This could be due to numerous issues but one of the common and easier to fix issues is a broken tilt flag. This is when the tilt gear on the right side has a small plastic flag that breaks. This flag is what enters a sensor channel and lets the camera know when it is at max tilt. When this issue occurs, you generally see a camera stutter when doing the boot up dance it will get stuck pointing up with a grinding noise. Incorrect firmware load can cause this issue as well.

ZOOM FOCUS ERROR

ZOOM FOCUS ERROR - This is a bad connection from the lens assembly to the PCB board at the base of the unit. Sometimes this just needs to be re-attached, but most of the time it must be replaced. This is an extensive repair that takes a lot of time.

Zoom ERROR

Zoom Error - The Zooming mechanism from within the lens has been knocked off of its track. Sometimes a gentle smack to the back of the lens assembly can fix this, but ultimately we would need to replace the lens assembly or the entire camera.

Focus ERROR

Focus Error - The Focusing mechanism from within the lens has been knocked off of its track. Sometimes a gentle smack to the back of the lens assembly can fix this, but ultimately we would need to replace the lens assembly or the entire camera.

AF INIT OVERTIME

AF INIT OVERTIME - The autofocus of the unit has failed completely. This is not fixable and would require a replacement unit.
